In July 2026, Prof. LI Mengying is promoted to Associate Professor (tenured) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This marks a very important milestone in both her professional and personal life, and Prof. Li would like to share a few words on this occasion.
“The six-year tenure clock has quietly come to an end, and I am grateful to have entered the next stage of my academic journey.
Over the past several years, there have been both gains and losses, moments of good fortune as well as some regrets. What I am most thankful for is the tremendous help and support I have received along the way: from my colleagues in the department for their trust, understanding, and generosity; from senior scholars in the field (including my supervisors) for their guidance and inspiration; from my collaborators for their partnership and shared efforts; from my friends for their encouragement and companionship; and from my family for their unwavering understanding and sacrifice.
Above all, I am deeply grateful to my wonderful students. Their intelligence, focus, dedication, and hard work have been a constant source of strength and inspiration to me.
As I enter this next chapter as Associate Professor, I will continue to move forward with humility, steadiness, and commitment.”
