Seven REALab students—Nan Deng, Xinran Liu, Chuang Zhang, Yuying Xie, Xin Wei, Tao Jing and Haoran Chang—presented their research at the 18th International Conference on Applied Energy (ICAE 2026), held September 22–26, 2026, on Jeju Island, South Korea.
Their seven presentations covered solar irradiance modeling and forecasting, renewable energy systems, solar evaporation, and aquavoltaics:
- Nan Deng: “Physics-Guided Surrogate Modeling for Real-Time Estimation of Surface Shortwave Irradiance Under All-Sky Conditions.”
- Xinran Liu: “Dynamic Thermal Management of a Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell under Fluctuating Solar Power.”
- Chuang Zhang: “Optimal Design of an Integrated Photovoltaic–Battery–Hydrogen System for High Renewable Power Penetration Scenarios.”
- Yuying Xie: “Physics-Guided Pre-Processing of Satellite Imagery for Enhanced Deep Learning-Based Solar Irradiance Estimation.”
- Xin Wei: “Wind–gap–scale coupling in contactless solar evaporation.”
- Tao Jing: “Shape-Prior Conditional Flow Matching for Day-Ahead NWP Solar Irradiance Temporal Downscaling.”
- Haoran Chang: “Evaporation Modulations and Microclimate Interactions in Aquavoltaic Systems.”
Mengying Li coauthored all seven papers.
The students shared their latest findings with researchers from around the world and took part in academic discussions throughout the conference. Great job!
